Cheaper Home Battery Program

In July 2025, the Australian Government launched their Cheaper Home Battery Program, aimed at helping Australians to save money when installing a new solar/home battery system.

This program is based on a tiering system that reduces every 6 months, encouraging people to install before the next set of rebates come into effect to best maximise savings. As of 1st of May 2026, customers are expected to save over 30% on the upfront cost. That’s why now is the best time to install batteries and solar for your house.

FAQs

1. Are the plans customisable?
Yes, once you register your expression, one of our experts at Greenhse will go over your options and help create the best plan for your house based on your needs and price range.
2. How many batteries do I need?
There is no best answer for this, it all depends upon your personal preferences and needs, and how much energy you typically plan on using up each day. You can choose between 1, 2, or 3 batteries, for an output of 16kWh, 32kWh or 48kWh respectively.
3. Does my system need to be part of a VPP?
A virtual power plant compatible system is required, especially in order to save a further $1300 via the WA rebate. When you join a VPP, your home battery becomes a part of a connected energy network, where in exchange for exporting stored power back to the grid, you can earn some money back.
